Magical Wedding in the Isle of Skye, Scotland
Capturing Love in the Heart of Scotland
As a documentary wedding photographer in London, I enjoy capturing love stories in the most incredible locations. But when Fatima and Kipp booked me to photograph their wedding in Scotland, I knew this would be truly special.
The Isle of Skye has always been on my list of dream destinations, so I couldn't contain my excitement when I was asked to document their wedding at Eilean Donan Castle, often described as one of the most romantic castles in Scotland.
The Journey to the Highlands
My adventure began in London when I boarded the Caledonian Sleeper to Inverness. If you've never taken this overnight train, I highly recommend it! There is something so magical about waking up in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes. From Inverness, I hopped on a train to Kyle of Lochalsh, taking in the rugged mountains, deep lochs, and endless greenery along the way.
As a London wedding photographer, I'm used to city life, but this journey reminded me how much I love travelling, discovering new places, and meeting incredible people.
A Fairytale Wedding at Eilean Donan Castle
Arriving at Eilean Donan Castle, I took some time to explore the surroundings. Perched on a tiny island where three lochs meet, this historic Scottish castle is the stuff of fairy tales. Initially built in 1220, it was later destroyed in battle and painstakingly restored in the early 20th century. Today, it stands as one of Scotland's most iconic landmarks, so it's no surprise that couples travel worldwide to say their vows here.
Fatima and Kipp's ceremony took place in the banqueting hall, a grand space with stone walls, candlelit chandeliers, and an atmosphere steeped in history. Because weddings at Eilean Donan Castle can only happen after 6:30pm during the tourist season, the evening light was absolutely perfect for photography. With the sun setting late in the Scottish summer, we had plenty of time to capture every beautiful moment.
A Celebration on the Isle of Skye
After the ceremony, we travelled to Toravaig House Hotel on the Isle of Skye for the reception. This intimate venue, surrounded by rolling hills and spectacular sea views, was the perfect setting for a relaxed evening with family and close friends.
True to their vision, Fatima and Kipp kept things simple and meaningful. There was no first dance, but they shared a beautiful cake-cutting moment, followed by heartfelt speeches and laughter. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and full of love, just the way a wedding should be.
A Wedding to Remember
As a destination wedding photographer, I feel incredibly privileged to witness love stories in some of the world's most breathtaking locations. Fatima and Kipp's wedding reminded me why I love what I do, not just for the stunning scenery but also for the real, raw, and joyful moments that make each wedding unique.
To Fatima and Kipp, thank you for letting me be part of your incredible day. Your love, warmth, and kindness made this experience unforgettable, and I wish you a lifetime of happiness together.
