Dan & Matt's Civil Partnership at the Corinthia Hotel
Happy New Year everybody, wishing you all an amazing 2014!
The Corinthia Hotel, London
Now, my new year started with a charming wedding, Dan and Matt's. The event took place in the marvelous Corinthia Hotel in central London, within walking distance from the major landmarks, overlooking the river Thames. This grand Victorian building is truly stunning and the staff are very helpful indeed. I must personally thank Claire Bowpitt, the event organiser and the real star of the day. She really helped to make the day a great success. Looking after guests and even helping me to setup the family group shots. Yes, definitely an incredible and professional lady.
I will be completely honest, when I say that the first time that I visited the venue for my pre-wedding recce, I was not that impressed. No, no, it's not the architecture that I didn't like, quite the contrary, it was the actual area where the ceremony was going to take place. I felt that the numerous mirrors and the very large room, was a little too much. A bit cold and unfriendly. Well, how wrong was I? Very wrong!
The civil partnership ceremony
Today the place with dimmed lights and candles everywhere looked just amazingly grand. But yet very cosy and definitely very friendly. Wow! It just looked so surprisingly different. A big "thank you" to Jo from JosyPosy for the lovely flower arrangement, with the cute teapot filled with very colourful flowers and the floating candles.
Having the civil partnership and the afternoon tea party in the same location helped to create a very intimate atmosphere and nobody got wet. Yes, because outside it was pouring down.
The hotel kindly upgraded Dan and Matt's room to a staggering suite. Complete with a massive Christmas tree. They had a magnificent time with a pampering, relaxing treatment the day before
Two weeks later...
Today I met Dan and Matt again over a freshly prepared mint tea. We chatted about their civil partnership ceremony, the guests, the tension, the expectation, but mostly of the special atmosphere of the big day. I presented them with a personalised double DVD, plus and separate DVD of the engagement shoot. They were very sweet to arrive at the appointment with a beautiful bunch of flowers and chocolate. I really feel uplifted and contented knowing that they'll treasure these images for many years to come. I will miss them, but I know that they will have a very happy life together.
