Chicheley Hall Wedding Photography

In the summer my friend and photographer, Kat asked me to be the second shooter for her at this wonderful, relaxed wedding at Chicheley Hall near Milton Keynes.

Jane and Matt a lovely easygoing couple, wanted a full of fun and fuss-free wedding, with a garden party where they could just relax and have a good time in the sun with their friends and family!

The wedding day

The wedding day started off with a traditional ceremony inside Chicheley Hall, where Jane against what everyone expected from her, wore a white wedding gown! Everyone was expecting her to do something out of the box, (as she is so wonderfully non-traditional) so this was her way of surprising them! Her bouquet looked kind of traditional at a first glance until you looked closer and discovered two little Lego figurines inside – made by Matt’s two sons, especially for her bouquet. Little details that make a big difference!

The outdoor party

After the ceremony, everyone went out into the gardens, where drinks and canapes were served.  The day was full of surprises, the treasure hunt for those who wanted to do that was one of them. They also had garden games of every kind! There was a giant ludo, with huge inflatable dice, as well as space hoppers, giant Jenga, connect four and lots of more! The atmosphere was very uplifting and everybody was having a wonderful time, it was genuinely beautiful to photograph. Another unusual fun part was the food stalls. Jane and Matt absolutely didn’t want a traditional sit-down dinner, so they asked the venue if they could have four different food stalls – English, Indian, Italian and American – it was very interesting to see how each corner of the garden was transformed into something quite unusual.

The English corner had fish and chips, the American had mini burgers and Southern-style fried chicken, the Indian had curry, and the Italian had pizza and tomatoes and mozzarella salad trays.

In the middle of the garden was a beautiful little cart displaying all the different colourful deserts! It was so wonderful to photograph this wedding, full of fun and games, the weather was sunny, and people had an amazing, joyful time! After dinner, everyone gathered outside the house for some informal speeches, followed by a surprise performance of the Macarena by Jane and all her hen-do friends! The day ended with dancing at sunset as the light faded into dusk. It was such a warm, happy gathering, exactly as Jane and Matt had planned. Thank you so much, Jane and Matt, and of course, Kat, for such a wonderful day, wishing you a life full of laughter and happiness.
